Vida is worth considering when your employer or health plan includes the relevant program and you want coordinated medical and behavioral support. Confirm which offering you can use and whether it includes prescribing.

What it is
Vida offers several levels of digital metabolic care. Its program page describes Core as behavioral support, Elevate as physician-led care that can include GLP-1 prescribing, and Control as maintenance support. GLP-1 Companion focuses on lifestyle support, monitoring and refill accountability. Those services should not be treated as interchangeable prescription offers. The AOM FAQ separately describes prescribing for eligible Medical Weight Loss members and a coverage-only arrangement for others. The important starting question is which pathway your organization offers, rather than whether you can download the app.
How it works
For eligible prescribing members, medical assessment can lead to a care plan involving labs, medicines and follow-up. The cardiometabolic prescribing guide describes a medical-history review, app-based documents and a provider added to the care team. Its lab-order workflow does not establish an identical testing schedule for every weight-management member. Coaching and tracking can support the clinical plan, but a coaching program alone does not establish access to a prescriber. Vida’s terms distinguish the technology platform from clinical services provided through affiliated medical practices. Ask which clinician will manage your treatment and how your regular doctor stays involved.
Pricing transparency
Vida participation and medication coverage are different benefits. The medicine-coverage page says the pharmacy formulary, prior authorization and other plan rules can determine which drugs are covered. Its activity requirements apply when your employer or health plan imposes them, not to every Vida member. The cardiometabolic guide explains that prescription and lab charges go through insurance; confirm the actual patient share under your own policy. The general terms allow charges not paid by another party. A sponsored care program therefore should not be assumed to include free medicines or laboratory testing. Compare your expected pharmacy and clinical costs before starting.
Branded vs compounded
Vida does not send medicines: prescriptions are filled by a retail or mail-order pharmacy. This is not a fixed monthly shipment with an assured drug, dose or quantity. The refill guide describes an app check-in followed by a provider message, with standard processing taking up to seven business days. Pharmacy stock and insurance changes can still interrupt dispensing.

How we assessed this. Frequently asked
- Does every Vida program prescribe GLP-1 medication?
- No. The programs page identifies Elevate as including prescribing, while other listed services emphasize behavioral support, maintenance or companion care. The AOM FAQ distinguishes Medical Weight Loss prescribing from an arrangement that supports coverage while an outside doctor continues prescribing. Confirm your assigned pathway.
- Must every member meet the medicine-coverage activity targets?
- No. These requirements apply when your employer or health plan uses them. The published schedule includes a provider session in each four-week cycle, health logging during three weeks and lessons during two. Check your own plan’s requirements and any grace period; these activities do not replace the other coverage criteria.
- Who pays for medication, and does Vida ship it?
- Vida’s AOM FAQ says medication is filled at a retail or mail-order pharmacy, which will tell you your copay, coinsurance or other patient charge. Vida does not ship the medicine. Program access is not a pharmacy discount or a promise that insurance will approve the prescription.
- How should I plan a refill?
- Vida’s refill guide recommends completing the app check-in and messaging the provider. Standard processing can take up to seven business days. For less than three days of remaining medication, it directs members to Member Services for urgent review rather than relying only on the app. Review does not guarantee immediate dispensing.
- Can I cancel and receive a refund?
- For applicable paid subscriptions, the general terms allow cancellation effective after the current subscription period and generally exclude partial-period refunds. Those provisions do not establish that your employer-sponsored program charges a subscription. Confirm your particular agreement and pharmacy terms; leaving a program may also affect plan-specific medication coverage.
- What should I know about privacy before joining?
- Vida’s privacy policy distinguishes its general policy from the clinical Notice of Privacy Practices. It also permits certain information sharing with a sponsoring employer group plan, health plan or their service providers under applicable law. Review the notices for your arrangement; neither complete employer access nor complete secrecy should be assumed.
