tru Weight Loss review
Commitment before cancellation
$299 a month buys compounded semaglutide and $399 buys tirzepatide, labs and coaching included, but the first three months cannot be canceled.
Our verdict
tru Weight Loss is the weight-loss program of a primary and urgent care group with eight clinics across Maryland and Virginia, not a standalone telehealth brand. Its two prices are unusually complete: $299 a month for semaglutide and $399 for tirzepatide, each covering the consultation, lab work, the medication, delivery and monthly physician and dietitian check-ins. The catch is the commitment, because a three-month subscription is required before cancellation opens, so the real entry cost is three payments rather than one. The program also declines insurance, HSA and FSA cards, which the same organization accepts for its primary care.

What it is
The GLP-1 program of truHealthNow, a primary and urgent care group running eight clinics in Maryland and Virginia, sold as an all-inclusive monthly package rather than a medication price.
How it works
A free initial telehealth consultation with a weight-loss physician, free lab work and a personalized plan, followed by monthly physician check-ins to monitor progress and renew the prescription. Nutritionist, behavioral and stress-management support are bundled in, and medication ships to the door. A three-month subscription is required, after which cancellation is open, and the program allows early termination for a patient who is not tolerating the medication.
Pricing transparency
$299 a month for the semaglutide package and $399 for the tirzepatide package, each stated as a rate per month and each covering medication, monthly physician supervision and nutrition support. No membership or program fee sits outside those figures, and the consultation and the lab work are free rather than billed separately. The three-month minimum is a commitment rather than a fee, but it sets the smallest possible outlay at three months of the rate. Insurance, HSA and FSA cards are not accepted at all.
Branded vs compounded
Compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide, described as prescribed by a licensed physician and sourced from US-licensed compounding pharmacies. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, efficacy or quality before dispensing. No individual pharmacy is named, and no milligram dose appears anywhere in the program description. Both molecules are introduced by reference to the brands that share their active ingredient.
Pros and watch-outs
What we like
- One figure covers labs and consultation
- Monthly physician and dietitian check-ins included
- Priced by the month, not by weeks
- A physical clinic group behind the program
Watch-outs
- Three months must be paid before canceling
- Insurance, HSA and FSA cards refused
- The compounding pharmacy is not named
- No state list for the telehealth program
Best for
Mid-Atlantic buyers who want labs and coaching bundled in.
Who should look elsewhere
Anyone unwilling to commit three months up front.

Frequently asked
- How much does tru Weight Loss cost?
- $299 a month for the semaglutide package and $399 a month for the tirzepatide package. Each includes the medication, monthly physician supervision and nutrition support, and the initial consultation and lab work are free. A three-month subscription is required before cancellation becomes possible.
- Can the subscription be canceled at any time?
- Not at first. Three months must run before cancellation opens, although the program states that treatment may end early for a patient who is not tolerating the medication. That puts the minimum outlay at three months of the rate rather than one.
- Where is tru Weight Loss available?
- No state list is published for the telehealth program. The parent group, truHealthNow, runs eight primary and urgent care clinics across Maryland and Virginia, including Germantown, Alexandria, Woodbridge, Leesburg, Purcellville, South Riding and Dulles. Coverage beyond that footprint has to be settled with the clinic directly.
- What weight-loss results does the program claim?
- The hero banner reads "Lose Up To 20% Of Your Body Weight In Just 4 Months". Its semaglutide copy attributes an average 16.9% loss over 68 weeks, while its tirzepatide copy attributes up to 20.9% "in just four months". The same page therefore frames its two molecules on very different timescales.
- Is tru Weight Loss expensive compared with other GLP-1 sellers by price providers?
- tru Weight Loss publishes a starting figure of $299/mo. Across the 272 GLP-1 sellers by price providers we review that publish a single monthly figure, those run $76 to $449 with a median of $179, which puts tru Weight Loss above the median. The other 14 GLP-1 sellers by price providers we review quote only after an intake or price by dose, so they are not in that comparison. A starting figure is not a bill — labs, consultations and shipping are often charged separately, so confirm what your own quote includes.
