Hims review
Brand only, membership mandatory
Every price on the weight-loss page is medication alone, and none of it can be bought without a $149-a-month membership billed separately.
Our verdict
Hims sells FDA-approved brand GLP-1s and nothing compounded, which its own answer to the medication question confirms. The pricing is honest about what it excludes and easy to read as though it were not. A footnote under every card states that medication is not available without an active Weight Loss Membership. That membership is $39 for the first month and $149 a month thereafter, billed separately. That makes the Wegovy pen $348 a month rather than $199, and Zepbound $448 rather than $299. The membership is also the one part of the bill that is not FSA or HSA eligible.

What it is
A large telehealth company selling brand-name GLP-1 medication — Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic and Foundayo, in pen, vial and pill forms — behind a paid monthly membership.
How it works
A membership model rather than a per-prescription one. Joining costs $39 for the first month and renews at $149 a month, and canceling the membership cancels any active medication plan and access to care. The membership carries a personalized plan, 24/7 messaging with licensed providers, a smart scale and third-party discounts. Video visits are described as state-dependent, and Hims states GLP-1s are not yet available in all fifty states.
Pricing transparency
Medication-only rates start at $149 a month for the Wegovy pill, its microdosing plan, the Ozempic pill and the Foundayo pill. The Wegovy pen and Ozempic are $199, the Zepbound vial and KwikPen $299, and Mounjaro and Zepbound $1,899. All are described as billed monthly. The membership is charged on top of each of them. The lowest-priced route to a weekly brand injection is therefore $199 plus $149, or $348 a month, and the tirzepatide equivalent is $448. Hims also notes that pricing may vary by dosage, and no card publishes the higher-dose figures.
Branded vs compounded
Brand-name, FDA-approved medication only. Hims answers the question of what it offers with a range of FDA-approved GLP-1 medications, naming the Wegovy pill and the Wegovy pen. No compounded product appears anywhere on the weight-loss pages. Doses are published. The Wegovy pen page gives a range of 0.25 mg to 7.2 mg, and the Zepbound pages set out a 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg and 10-to-15 mg ladder.
Pros and watch-outs
What we like
- Every medication is FDA-approved brand, not compounded
- Milligram dose ranges are published on the product pages
- The membership condition is stated under every price
- Medication is billed monthly, not as a prepaid block
Watch-outs
- The mandatory membership adds $149 to every monthly bill
- Advertised prices exclude the charge that makes them available
- The membership fee is not FSA or HSA eligible
- Higher-dose pricing is not published

How we assessed this. This review reflects GLP Loss’s own read of Hims’s publicly-stated model — pricing transparency, clinical oversight, medication clarity, and access — against our editorial methodology. Frequently asked
- What does the Wegovy pen actually cost per month?
- $199 for the medication plus $149 for the required Weight Loss Membership, so $348 a month once the introductory month has passed. The first month is lower only because the membership opens at $39, making it $238. Hims states medication is not available without an active membership.
- Does Hims still sell compounded semaglutide?
- Not on its weight-loss pages. Every product listed is brand-name and FDA-approved — Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro and Foundayo — and the site's own answer describes the range as FDA-approved GLP-1 medications. No compounded formulation is offered or priced.
- What happens if the membership is canceled?
- Canceling the membership also cancels any active medication plan and access to care through the platform. The reverse is not true: a medication plan can be canceled without affecting the membership. That asymmetry means the $149 is the part of the bill a buyer cannot drop while staying on treatment.
- Is Hims available everywhere?
- No. Hims states that GLP-1s are not yet available in all fifty states and that it is working to expand. The smart scale included with membership carries the same caveat. Eligibility by state has to be settled during intake.
- Is Hims expensive compared with other GLP-1 telehealth sellers providers?
- Hims publishes a starting figure of $348/mo. Across the 282 GLP-1 telehealth sellers providers we review that publish a single monthly figure, those run $76 to $449 with a median of $179, which puts Hims above the median. The other 14 GLP-1 telehealth sellers providers we review quote only after an intake or price by dose, so they are not in that comparison. A starting figure is not a bill — labs, consultations and shipping are often charged separately, so confirm what your own quote includes.
