Hello Alpha review
Care before pharmacy costs
Hello Alpha's $79 monthly weight-loss membership pays for virtual care. Prescriptions and laboratory tests are separate, and its current menu lists branded medicines rather than compounded GLP-1s.
Our verdict
Hello Alpha is worth considering if you want appointment-free medical care and help navigating a branded prescription. It is less useful as a single-price medication package: the membership, laboratory work and pharmacy bill are separate. Its insurance support has specific limits, so confirm the intended medicine and coverage before subscribing.

What it is
Hello Alpha is a virtual-care platform with a women's-health focus and a dedicated weight-management service. Its weight-loss pathway directs patients to Alpha Plus+, rather than presenting the Basic general-care plan as the entry price for this service. That distinction matters when comparing an inexpensive membership advertisement with a GLP-1 program. The broader platform also treats men and other eligible adults, according to its care information. Weight-management eligibility is narrower than the platform's general age range, and the clinician must decide whether treatment is appropriate. A convenient online assessment should still provide enough time to discuss other medicines, relevant medical history and the practical follow-up plan.
How it works
Visits usually begin with information submitted online, followed by a provider's review and messages. The how-it-works page explains that asynchronous care is not a live conversation: messages can be sent at any time, but the provider responds when available. This is a useful distinction from a guaranteed immediate appointment. The telehealth consent also allows audio or video communication, and the terms say state and clinical circumstances can require a scheduled interaction. Medical care comes from affiliated practices rather than Hello Alpha acting as the dispensing pharmacy. Ask what follow-up requires a new visit and how an issue needing an examination would be handled locally.
Pricing transparency
The posted Alpha Plus+ fee is $79 per month, with four online visits. The general-care page also shows a $29 Basic plan, but weight loss is not included in that lower tier. The Plus+ support page expressly excludes medication and laboratory costs; extra visits can carry an additional charge. Compare the membership plus the expected pharmacy and testing expenses, rather than treating $79 as a medicine price. A discount banner on the general-care page is accompanied by terms ending in December 2025, so it does not establish a current discount. Membership fees are not billed to insurance. The terms describe automatic renewal and generally nonrefundable monthly fees, with cancellation needed before the next charge. They distinguish an ineligible consultation from an accepted consultation; do not assume every decision against a requested prescription produces a refund.
Branded vs compounded
The weight-loss menu includes Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound, Mounjaro and oral options including Foundayo and Wegovy tablets. Hello Alpha states that it prescribes FDA-approved medicines. These products have different indications and formulations; appearing on the same menu does not make them interchangeable. The prescription policy preserves pharmacy choice, subject to law, and describes support for prior authorization without guaranteeing an insurer's decision. The weight-loss FAQ adds a consequential limit: without type 2 diabetes, Alpha does not assist with prior authorization for listed diabetes medicines used off-label for obesity. That makes the intended product and indication important to establish before budgeting for an insurance-covered fill.
Pros and watch-outs
What we like
- Appointment-free care suits patients comfortable with written consultations

Watch-outs
- Medication and laboratory charges sit outside the membership
- Asynchronous messaging does not provide an immediate live response

How we assessed this. This review reflects GLP Loss’s own read of Hello Alpha’s publicly-stated model — pricing transparency, clinical oversight, medication clarity, and access — against our editorial methodology. Frequently asked
- Does the membership include a GLP-1 prescription fill?
- No. Alpha Plus+ covers care, with medication and laboratory costs outside the membership. A prescription itself also depends on clinical judgment. Establish the exact product and pharmacy expense separately before comparing a monthly treatment budget.
- Can the Basic plan be used for weight management?
- The plan comparison excludes weight loss from Basic, while the weight-loss pathway directs patients to Plus+. The lower general-care headline should not be treated as the published weight-management price.
- Is messaging the same as a live appointment?
- No. Hello Alpha describes asynchronous visits as information reviewed by a provider when available, without real-time messaging. State rules or the clinical situation can call for a scheduled interaction. Ask how time-sensitive concerns should be handled.
- Can I use my own pharmacy?
- The prescription policy says the provider will transfer a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice on request, subject to applicable law. Confirm stock, insurance network status and the dispensing charge with that pharmacy.
- Does prior-authorization help guarantee coverage?
- No. The insurer decides. Alpha's weight-loss FAQ also limits assistance for diabetes drugs used off-label for obesity when a patient does not have type 2 diabetes. Discuss that limitation before relying on a particular covered prescription.
- Are public insurance benefits accepted for prescriptions?
- Hello Alpha's payment information says Medicare, Medicaid and other state or federal programs cannot currently be used for prescriptions written by its providers. Its membership operates on a cash-pay basis. Verify your specific situation before enrolling.
- Can the membership be canceled?
- The terms allow cancellation through the account before the next renewal charge. Monthly fees already charged are generally nonrefundable. Canceling future billing is different from receiving reimbursement for an accepted consultation or medication already processed for shipping.
- Does paying guarantee the medication I request?
- No. The prescription policy says the provider recommends treatment according to the person's circumstances and may direct someone to in-person care. A membership purchases access to care rather than a guaranteed drug or a particular weight-loss result.
